Kelly King-Green

Hi, I’m Kelly—nice to meet you.

I’m a marketing and communications leader in higher education, focused on building strong brands, leading creative teams, and creating work that connects.

For more than 20 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of strategy and storytelling, including over a decade in higher education—helping universities show up clearly, consistently, and in ways that resonate with the people they serve. My experience spans enrollment, advancement, student success, and athletics, and I’m especially drawn to moments when institutions are evolving, growing, or stepping into something new.

In my current role at Texas State University, I lead a multidisciplinary marketing team and help guide brand strategy across a large, decentralized campus. That work includes everything from developing scalable brand systems and campaign frameworks to partnering with stakeholders across the university to bring ideas to life in meaningful ways.

Building and managing relationships across the institution is central to my work—connecting marketing, athletics, advancement, and campus partners to align priorities, strengthen storytelling, and create experiences that resonate with students, alumni, and fans. Whether it’s launching a brand platform, shaping a campaign, or contributing to university experiences, I’m motivated by work that brings people together and builds lasting affinity.

I care deeply about creating environments where teams can do their best work. I’m known for being a thoughtful leader, a clear communicator, and someone who can translate big-picture strategy into practical, creative execution.

A few things I believe:

  • Strong brands are built through consistency, clarity, and shared ownership

  • The best work happens when teams feel supported, aligned, and inspired

  • Storytelling is most powerful when it’s grounded in real experiences

  • Big moments—like campaigns, milestones, or transitions—are opportunities to create lasting impact

Outside of work

I serve as an Arts Commissioner for the City of San Marcos and enjoy being part of our local creative community. Much of my free time is spent outdoors with my family—on the San Marcos River, kayaking, hiking, and exploring new places.
